POLICE BRUTALITY
The Unification Party of The United States in no way approves police brutality if excessive force is being used not in the
defense of saving an officer's life. The truth behind the reality is that police brutality is real. Caught up in the moment it
may possibly seem right at the time, but not if it costs someone their life. Having this conversation is difficult because no
matter how much we support police officers it's hard to admit that police brutality exists and that it would be carried out
to the extremes in which it has. We are proposing A 'Timeout' period of three days if their partner or superior senses the
stress level of the position is taking its toll on a officer. The proper counseling at this point can be given and the proper
resources already in place can be provided to help with bouts of aggression or stress.
In the event of a conviction based upon police brutality the officer should be held accountable to the laws which they
have enforced. The officer serving time should be counseled and given phycological evaluations to determine what the
cause was and in time (if death was not a result of the conviction) a board should determine if they should be added
back to the force or given a permanent release from duty.
