PRISON REFORM
The Unification Party of The United States understands that everyone truly deserves a second chance at forgiveness.
If the loss of life, rape, child abuse or other major crime was not a factor in the conviction. Jails should not be 'jails',
sometimes those convicted come out of jail worse than when they entered, it proves the system is broken. Reform is
the key if they show a real desire and a progression of behavior to reform. For others it is just proven that hardened
criminals need to be incarcerated.
Reformation Centers can be setup in jails to acclimate someone on how to adjust themselves before they are released
from prison. These reformation centers would be totally based off of the boot camp soldier experience and would
accomplish the same results through the same controls. Conform to the rules of law and learn a skill that you can
use for the rest of your life. The cost of incarceration would be dwarfed by setting up these reformation centers and
give those who wish to change an opportunity for true rehabilitation. Allow them to regain respect for themselves
and others, and once completed contribute their newly learned skills to society. Upon a second conviction after
reformation, hard time will be carried out accordingly.
